LEO-GLAM Bargaining Recap for 4/21/2025
At our April 21st bargaining session, we entered the final phase of negotiations, with our two major articles left to be settled: salary and term of agreement. To provide some context, last Wednesday during our in-person bargaining session on the Ann Arbor campus, the Employer passed us these articles, with a 4-year term that included no increases to minimum salaries, no equity payments, no change to the percentage increase for promotions, and 3% in annual increases each year. Worse, they had inserted language that allowed the University to withhold those annual increases for performance reasons, including failure to meet expectations on annual reviews.
On that front, we have some good news to share–we were able to reach agreement that they would completely strike this new language about the Employer withholding annual increases in exchange for agreeing to a 4-year term. And, while we continue to make movement that brings us much closer together, we still have more work to do. We want to be clear that it is the pressure from all of you–LEO-GLAM members–that has allowed us to continue to exert leverage at the bargaining table to continue to push on our salary structure and figures.
Highlights of the bargaining session included:
Passed a package containing Article XIII: Salary, and Article XXXV: Term of Agreement to the Employer
Reached a tentative agreement on Article XXXV: Term of Agreement, bringing our TA total to 23.
Just Article XIII: Salary is left to be resolved!
We anticipate that because we are very close, WE WILL HOLD ADDITIONAL BARGAINING SESSIONS THIS WEEK, and that the schedule may be a bit unpredictable. We will continue to invite members to attend caucus and table sessions, and will use Slack to communicate about details.
