At its monthly meeting today, the LEO Union Council discussed and voted to endorse a proposed amendment to Aritlce IX of the union's constitution. The amendment would allow the annual convention to be held within 120 days of the start of the next fiscal year, instead of within 75 days.  Petitions supporting the amendment had been signed by more than 20 members.  The measure will be voted on at the annual convention to be held on the UM-Flint campus on October 22.  The text of the amendment reads as follows:

Section 3.  The Union Council shall determine the time, place and agenda of the Convention, and give at least forty-five (45) days notice to the members. The Convention must be scheduled for a date not more than seventy-five (75) one hundred-twenty (120) days in advance of the start of the fiscal year as determined by the Union Council.
