Negotiations moved ahead on March 12. With some new faces among the LEO members in attendance, and all three campuses represented, the bargaining teams came to a tentative agreement on the Grievances article. The administration team presented counter-proposals on the Appointments and Performance Evaluation articles. LEO offered a discussion piece on how EAP (expertise, ability and performance) might be fleshed out for layoff and recall purposes. One other important development was the administration's pledge to have a salary proposal ready for the negotiation session in Dearborn on March 19. On grievances, the sides agreed that the old timeline of sixty days from reasonable knowledge to formal filing had worked well enough in the past, and for the most part decided to stay with current language in this article. Some language was added making it clear that any resolution on the unit level is to be encouraged, as long as it does not violate the contract. Language was also added to state that grievance meetings are not public; this simply made explicit the existing practice. A tentative agreement was then signed on this article. |
