AMENDMENT #1 (Adopted November 2005): Article III, Section 5 was revised as follows: Only members in good standing on layoff or employed in the bargaining unit during the academic year in which the contract is negotiated shall have the right to vote on their collective bargaining contract. Only members in good standing employed during a given semester shall have the right to vote on a job action. All members in good standing shall have the right to vote on all other matters. AMENDMENT #2 (Adopted November 2005): Article V, Section 3 was revised as follows: The Union Council shall meet monthly from September through May for the purpose of initiating, overseeing, or revising the Union’s organizing program and to conduct other Union business within its authority. The Union Council may also meet more frequently, or during the months of June through August, at the call of the President or of at least two other Union Council members. AMENDMENT #3 (Adopted November 2005): Article X, Section 2 was revised as follows: The Union Council shall publish its proposed budget to all members at least fourteen (14) ten (10) days prior to the Annual convention. Publication may take place in the Union’s newsletter or other mailing to the membership, through an email message to the membership, and/ or on a members-only section of the Union’s website or both. AMENDMENT #4 (Adopted November 2007): Article II, Section 8 was revised as follows: To promote democracy and justice in the society at large, and to oppose discrimination because of age, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship status (subject to compliance with federal and state law), sex (including gender identity and gender expression), religion, disability, height, weight, marital status, ancestry, political persuasion or affiliation, sexual orientation, HIV status, pregnancy, familial status or veteran status. AMENDMENT #5 (Adopted November 2007): Article IX, Section 3 was revised as follows: The Union Council shall determine the time, place and agenda of the Convention, and give at least forty-five (45) days notice to the members. The Convention must be scheduled for a date not more than sixty (60) seventy-five (75) days in advance of the start of the fiscal year as determined by the Union Council.
AMENDMENT #6 (Adopted December 2008): Article II, Section 8 shall be revised to read as follows: To promote democracy, equality and justice in the society at large, and to actively oppose discrimination, especially against individuals or groups who are oppressed and/or under-represented because of their age, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship status (subject to compliance with the federal and state law), sex (including gender identity and gender expression), religion, disability, height, weight, marital status, ancestry, political persuasion or affiliation, sexual orientation, HIV status, pregnancy, familial status or veteran status.
AMENDMENT #7 (Adopted December 2008): Article I shall be revised to read as follows: The Union shall be known as The Lecturers Employee Organization (LEO), AFT Michigan/ Michigan Federation of Teachers and School Related Personnel/ American Federation of Teachers, Local 6244, AFL-CIO, hereinafter referred to as “the Union.”
AMENDMENT #8 (Adopted December 2008): Article XI, Section 3 shall be revised to read as follows: To be eligible for the office a person must be a member in good standing of the Union for one (1) year prior to the date of the election. Except in the case of Campus Council Chairs (or Co-Chairs), no person may be elected to same office for more than three (3) consecutive terms. Term limits for Campus Council Chairs, if any shall be set by the Bylaws of each Campus Council.
